The Maybe "Create Your Story" Feature is a mobile interface.
You can access the Maybe Create Your Story tool easily from your “My Info” screen within the Maybe app. While this UGC platform is a streamlined mobile interface, you may find yourself wanting to be able to use your computer to access the app and type your story that way. There is no online interface yet. The only way to access this feature to write your stories on your computer is to gain access to the Maybe mobile app on your computer.
This guide will teach you how to do that.
Determine Your Computer Type
Depending on the type of computer you have, how you access the Maybe app on your computer differs. Follow the instructions for your specific type of computer below.
Apple computers with M1 processors
Chromebooks made in 2017 or later
PCs, Apple computers without M1, or early generation Chromebooks
Apple Computers with M1 processors
If you have a computer with an M1 processor, the ability to run iOS apps is automatically built in.
Open the app store on your computer.
Search for “maybe: interactive stories.”
You should see on the top bar of the search screen a menu that lets you toggle between “Mac Apps” and “iPhone and iPad apps.” Select the “iPhone and iPad apps” button in order to see the Maybe app for iPad.
Install the Maybe app.
Run the app on your computer as you would any other app.

Chromebooks made in 2017 or later
Most Chromebooks have the ability to access Android apps built in.
Select on the status bar in the bottom-right corner of the user interface.
Select the settings button.
In Settings, select “Apps.” If your Chromebook supports Android apps, you will see Google Play as an option.
Open the Play Store interface.
Search “maybe: interactive stories.”
Install the app.
Run on your computer as you would any other app.
Note that every Chromebook made in 2019 or later comes with the ability to run Android apps built in. Maybe Chromebooks made between 2017 and 2019 gained access to Android apps via an update. Make sure your Chromebook is updated to the latest version.
You can see if your Chromebook is capable of supporting Android apps by searching for your make and model of Chromebook here: http://tyvm.ly/O3kc

PCs, Apple computers without M1, or early generation Chromebooks
If your computer does not have the ability to host mobile apps built in, then you need to install an app that allows you to run mobile apps on your computer. We recommend Bluestacks.
You can download Bluestacks here: https://www.bluestacks.com/
Follow the instructions on the Bluestacks website to download the application.
Run Bluestacks on your computer.
In the Bluestacks interface, select the Play Store. This will open a separate tab with the Play Store interface.
Search for “maybe: interactive stories.”
Install the app.
Run the app in Bluestacks as you would on your phone.
To gain access to the beta, make sure you are logged into the app via Facebook, Google. Select settings in your app, scroll down to the UID. Copy your UID alphanumeric and submit to the the beta access request form: https://forms.gle/KMZNh1LcmN6vDZ1K8
Important iOS vs. Android Note
Note that logging in with your Google Play ID on the Android version of the Maybe app and logging in with your Apple ID on the iOS version of the Maybe app will give you two unique UIDs. Story drafts in the iOS version of the app will not appear on your Android version of the app and vice versa, as they are seen by the system as two different accounts, even if they are both attached to you.
The way around this is by connecting both to your Facebook account. This will allow you to have the same account on AOS and iOS.
Other Considerations
If you are working on a device such as a phone or tablet, you could consider hooking up a wireless keyboard. The types of keyboards that will work for your device differ pending the type of device you have. iPads have keyboard cases. Any device with bluetooth should be able to support a separate keyboard. Do some individual research into your device if you think a separate keyboard is the right call for you.
