The Update Button appears when you have made edits to your story after you have set any episodes to public. This will update your story to accurately reflect your changes.
Note that some edits cause a readership reset. This means anyone who has read your public episodes will be sent back to the first episode. This is to account for changes that might have been significant enough that readers will need to have experienced them.
Edits that reset readership:
Editing public episodes
Every change other than a text edit to an existing clip (such as fixing a typo)
Making changes to Character Settings (=Cast Actors)
Adding an actor slot (leading, supporting, or extra)
Making changes to Actors currently casted in your story (denoted by the pink “Casting” button above their image on the Cast Actors screen.)
Making any changes to your leading actors, regardless of casting status
Every update not listed, such as changes to private stories or editing a supporting actor who isn’t cast, might still prompt the Update Button but will not cause a readership reset.
It is our recommendation that you cast your whole story before making any episodes public.
